Kingston
Chase Daisy Troop 681
Congratulations to
Daisy Troop 681, the majority of whom reside in Kingston Chase,
for accomplishing two important events. First, the girls were
honored at the Daisy Investiture and Rededication Ceremony where
they were officially named Daisies and received their Daisy pin
and, second, the girls participated and marched in the Herndon
Homecoming Parade. Best wishes from Kingston Chase to all our
Daisy Troop members.
Girls from Daisy Troop 681 are all smiles after the Daisy Investiture and Rededication Ceremony.

Natural
Disasters Come to Kingston Chase
First it was a hail
storm that came through our neighborhood unexpectedly in the
afternoon of August 18. Then, equally unexpectedly, an
earthquake shook the east coast region around 1:50 p.m. on
August 23. After that, a tame Hurricane Irene blew through the
area the weekend of August 27-28. Then, not be outdone, very
heavy rains saturated the region on September 8, flooding
basements and nearby creeks, and closing schools on September 9.
Below, the retention pond behind the Kingston Chase pool shows
significant flooding.

Neighborhood kids
tend to a bicycle in the swollen creek waters of the retention
pond behind
the Kingston Chase pool. At its highest, the
creek water flowed another 10 feet up the path.

Clearview Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts
Collecting Funds for New Shed
Cub Scout Pack 1570
and Boy Scout Troop 1570 are collecting funds to replace a
well-used storage shed that is currently located at Clearview
Elementary School. The school has approved plans for a new and
larger shed, and the scouts would like to install it before the
ground freezes. Please consider making an end-of-the-year
contribution to the Scout Shed Fund. Donations of any amount are
100% tax deductible and would be greatly appreciated! Please
mail donations made payable to Pack 1570, 1711 Firewood Court,
Herndon, VA 20170 or contact Jennifer Durham at 703-932-0490 or
by e-mail at
jdurha@aol.com
to make your contribution. The boys enjoy scouting and work to
give back to the community with projects that include the
Runnymeade (and Folley Lick) Stream cleanup, KCHOA Butterfly Garden, Food Drive
for the Link Food Bank, collecting for Toys for Tots, and other
service activities. Thank you!
