Kingston Chase to Host Herndon Olympics

Kingston Chase is honored and excited to host the 30th Annual Herndon Olympics swim meet on Friday, July 10. The top swimmers from Kingston Chase, Hiddenbrook, Kingstream, Hunters Creek, Four Seasons, Fox Mill, the Herndon Community Center, Herndon Swim Club, and Reflections will compete in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, the individual medley, and various relays. Olympic Champion Josh Davis, who won 3 gold medals in 1996 and 2 silver medals in 2000, will be there to watch and present awards. The Kingston Chase pool will be closed all day and parking and movement in the area will be difficult. Please keep this in mind, but do plan to drop by to show your support and cheer on our Kingston Chase Fighters. The concession stand will be open and will include food from Vie de France and California Tortilla as well as grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, smoothies and snowcones. The meet is hosted by Kingston Chase and the Town of Herndon Parks and Recreation. Thank you to the coaches, parents, and swimmers for their dedication to the fun sport of community competitive swimming. Residents who wish to swim that day have several alternative area pools that will welcome you, but a pass from the pool desk will need to be obtained beforehand.

Fighters In Training

Do you have a child who is excited about swimming and has swimming skills, but is not quite ready to swim a full lap of the pool in a recognizable stroke? Our F.I.T. (Fighter In Training) program may be just right for your child. FIT kids will practice and improve their skills and most of all have lots of fun!  The assessment date will be on June 19th at 8:15 a.m. At this time your child will be evaluated to see if they are a good fit for our program. After the assessment you will be contacted to see if you should sign up for the program. You will then fill out a registration form. The cost of the program is $65.00.

The program will run from June 22 through July 17 from 8:15 to 9:00 a.m. Classes will not be held on July 10 as the pool will be closed for

the Herndon Olympics. Please e-mail Dominique Hart, our FIT coordinator, at dominique0620@hotmail.com to sign up for the assessment.

If you have questions or need more information, please e-mail her or give her a call at 703-481-2089.
